The 2017 Maritime Day at Fremantle Port showcased the many different maritime career opportunities to the West Australian Community through a multitude of stalls, demonstrations and hands on activities. Collins Class Submarine, HMAS Waller, was alongside for this year's event and the personnel from HMAS Stirling were out in force to promote pride in the service through some fascinating hands on activities and live demonstrations. Other exhibitors include maritime industry, local business, historical groups, Australian Navy Cadets and Defence Force Recruiting. In its ninth year, the event is organized by the Fremantle Port Authority. The event is supported by HMAS Stirling to replace Base open days and is an exciting opportunity for Navy to engage with the West Australian community and promote pride in the service, as well as being a fun family event. Navy, Port of Fremantle and associated maritime industry groups used this event to raise the profile of careers in the maritime industry with the theme for Maritime Day 2017 – Connecting Ships, People and Ports.
