Heroin seizure by HMAS Warramunga (0.56 mins)

HMAS Warramunga, supported by a Royal New Zealand Air Force P-3K2 aircraft, intercepted and boarded a suspect vessel on 24 January 2018, seizing 915kg of heroin valued at more than AUD$274 million. The operation was planned by the Combined Maritime Force's (CMF) Combined Task Force 150 (CTF 150) which is commanded by Australia and supported by a combined Australian and Canadian staff. HMAS Warramunga operates as part of the multi-national CMF, predominately tasked to support CTF 150 for counter-terrorism and maritime security operations. Warramunga is deployed on Operation MANITOU, supporting international efforts to promote maritime security, stability and prosperity in the Middle East region (MER). Warramunga is on her third deployment to the MER and is the 66th rotation of a Royal Australian Navy vessel to the region since 1990.
