Royal Hobart Regatta
Royal Hobart Regatta (1.12 mins)
HMAS Hobart is visiting her namesake city for the first time with a busy schedule of activities over the Royal Hobart Regatta long weekend. Over 180 officers and sailors from HMAS Hobart marched to Town Hall to exercise their right to Freedom of Entry to the city. HMAS Hobart opened her hatches to the public during an open day at Princes Wharf with the local community invited to step aboard Australia’s newest warship. Members of Hobart’s ship’s company will also compete in the 180th Royal Hobart Regatta and the Trans Derwent Swim as well as host a number of local community groups and dignitaries during the port visit. HMAS Hobart is the first of three 147 metre long Hobart class guided missile destroyers for the Royal Australian Navy. HMAS Hobart operates from her home port of Fleet Base East in Sydney.
