Guardian Class Patrol Boat handover to Tuvalu (0.56 mins)
The handover ceremony marked the second Guardian Class Patrol Boat (GPB) handed over by AUSTAL and the ADF to one of our Pacific Island neighbours. The recipients on this occasion was the maritime surveillance unit from the Tuvalu Police Force. The Assistant Minister for International Development and the Pacific Senator, the Honourable Anne Ruston, representing the Minister for Defence Industry Senator, the Honourable, Linda Reynolds, CSC, and Air Commander Australia, Air Vice Marshall Steven Roberton, representing the Chief of the Defence Force, General Angus Campbell accepted the vessel from Austal in an initial handover ceremony. The second Guardian Class Patrol Boat was presented to the Tuvalu Government, represented by their Prime Minster, the Right Honourable Enele Sosene Sopoaga, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Trade, Tourism, Environment and Labour, Honourable Taukelina Finikaso and the Minister of Natural Resources, Honourable Dr Puakena Boreham.
