Exercise Pacific Vanguard (PACVAN) 19 is the first of a series of on-going maritime training initiatives intended to enhance interoperability and strengthen practical cooperation between regional neighbours. PACVAN 19 involves naval assets and sailors from Australia, Japan, the Republic of Korea (ROK) and the United States. Royal Australian Navy participants include the ships HMAS Parramatta, HMAS Melbourne and a number of land-based sailors to support the combined training at sea. PACVAN 19 runs from 22-27 May 19 off the coast of Guam.
